Happenings
We had a great time making our memo boards last Friday, or as we liked to call them, our memory boards. We still need to attach the “hardware” so that we can hang them on our walls, but they all turned out great. I am hoping to post some pictures soon so be sure to check out our photo gallery. Our Valentine’s parties were a big success, thanks in (a big) part to the beautiful cakes made by our very own Becky Pickart. I will be posting pictures of the cakes on the photo gallery too. We did some Valentine trivia and shared some memories. Congratulations to Ruth and Gene Dyrsland on celebrating 64 years of marriage!! This Week’s Events
We are excited to have students from Taft Alternative here on Wednesday. We always have fun when they come. We will leave for our outing to Greenleaves right after the activity with the Taft students. Please call ahead if you plan on joining us on the outing. Our Red Hat ladies will have their Valentine social Thursday afternoon, while the elders in The Garden enjoy music with Carroll Brown. Friday afternoon we will get crafty. Feel free to join us for these or any of our other activities this week!
Chip Eating Contest
Congratulations to Katie Ross, our MDS Coordinator, on her victory over Sarah Case, Social Worker, in our first (annual?) chip eating contest. After months of hype, the winner was finally crowned and Katie now has bragging rights! One of the funniest moments came when Stan went out and got a small garbage can and set it between the contestants. Everyone got to enjoy some Carlos O’Kelly’s chips and salsa as they watched and listened to the contest soundtrack with songs such as Eye of the Tiger, Chariots of Fire, Yummy Yummy Yummy, and Eat It.
West Ridge Open Houses
The Holiday Open Houses for Elders and their families will be on Thursday, December 15th. The Garden will celebrate from 2-4p.m., with entertainment from 2:30-4:30p.m. Blossom Lane and the Foyer level will celebrate from 5-7p.m., with entertainment from 5:30-6:30p.m. If you have any questions, please call Julia Winterboer at 390-3367.
Farmer’s Market
